What Happens at a Bridal Consultation? Inside a Couture Appointment

The consultation is where every bespoke gown begins — and for most brides, it's also unfamiliar territory. There's no rack to browse and nothing to try on; instead, there's a conversation about you. Here's exactly what happens, so you can arrive relaxed and leave inspired.

Before you arrive

Consultations at OT Haute Couture are private and by appointment at the atelier. Come with whatever inspires you: saved images, fabric feelings, silhouettes you love — and just as usefully, things you know you don't want. If you have a venue, a date, or a budget in mind, bring those too; all three shape the design conversation.

The conversation

You share your vision — images, feelings, fabrics, silhouettes — and your designer listens without judgment. This is your moment to dream out loud. Oko Tilyeukhan works with each client personally: her philosophy is that a gown should be a reflection of the woman wearing it, which means the consultation is less about trends and more about you — how you want to feel, move and be remembered.

Expect honest guidance. A couture designer's value at this stage is telling you truthfully what a silhouette will do for your body, what a fabric will feel like through a long evening, and what your budget genuinely achieves.

What happens next

After the consultation, the design phase begins: sketches, fabric swatches and a full proposal for your gown, refined together until every detail feels right — before a single stitch is sewn. Your deposit confirms the order and reserves your production window; from there, the gown moves into creation and fittings.

Common Questions

Asked &answered

Do I need to pay for a consultation?

Consultation details are arranged when you book — reach out through the contact page or by phone and the atelier will walk you through everything before you commit to anything.

What should I bring to a bridal consultation?

Inspiration images, your date and venue if known, an honest budget, and an open mind. Knowing what you don't want is as useful as knowing what you do.

Can I bring family or friends?

Consultations are private appointments — bring the people whose opinions matter to you. Smaller groups tend to keep the conversation focused on what you want.

Will I try on dresses at the consultation?

A bespoke atelier is not a boutique — there is no rack. The first appointment is a design conversation; your gown is then created for you alone, refined through fittings as it comes to life.
